Brandon Lee

Director General of the Grants and Contributions Transformations Initiative, Global Affairs Canada

Brandon Lee is the Director General of the Grants and Contributions Transformation Initiative at Global Affairs Canada, where he leads a department-wide effort to modernize the management of over $6 billion in global grants and contributions.

Mr. Lee previously served as Canada’s Consul General in San Francisco, Seattle, Northern California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Northwest (Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Idaho), as well as Canada’s Ambassador to Silicon Valley. Joining Global Affairs Canada in 2004, Brandon has held several executive and management positions, including becoming the department’s first Director of Innovation and overseeing major reforms to strengthen Canada’s international presence.

From 2012 to 2014, Mr. Lee held senior positions with the World Trade Organization and the International Committee of the Red Cross in Geneva, spearheading significant international reform initiatives. Earlier in his career, he worked in the private sector, pioneering online banking in North America and contributing to large-scale projects in telecommunications and IT management consulting.

Mr. Lee’s career reflects his expertise in innovation, change management, and international leadership, with a consistent focus on modernizing institutions and strengthening Canada’s global engagement.
