Coleen Volk
President and CEO, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation
Coleen Volk is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC), bringing a wealth of leadership experience spanning the federal and provincial public service as well as the private sector.
Prior to joining CMHC, Ms. Volk retired from the Alberta Public Service in 2022 after serving as Associate Deputy Minister, Executive Council; Deputy Minister, Operations; and Deputy Minister, Intergovernmental Relations. From 2016 to 2019, she was Deputy Minister of Alberta Energy, where she oversaw policy development across the oil, gas, and electricity sectors.
At the federal level, Ms. Volk held senior executive roles for more than a decade, including Associate Deputy Minister at Environment and Climate Change Canada, Assistant Deputy Minister at Finance Canada and Environment Canada, and Associate Assistant Deputy Minister at Industry Canada. She also served as Deputy Secretary at the Privy Council Office, where she supported the Prime Minister and Clerk of the Privy Council in governor-in-council appointments to senior public service, crown corporations, federal commissions, and tribunals.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Volk worked in the banking industry, including six years with CIBC in the Corporate Treasury function. She is a Member of the Board of Directors of Blueprint ADE, holds a CPA designation (CPA, CMA), and earned a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Computer Science from the University of Regina.
Ms. Volk is widely recognized for her strengths in leadership, governance, and strategic planning, with a career dedicated to advancing public policy and organizational excellence.
