Dr. Sonia Corrent

Director General, Tobacco Control Directorate, Health Canada

Dr. Sonia Corrent is Director General of the Tobacco Control Directorate at Health Canada, where she leads national policies, programs, and regulations to reduce tobacco-related harm. With over 23 years at Health Canada and more than eight in executive roles, she also represents Canada as Head of Delegation to the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

Dr. Corrent is a thought leader who has delivered keynotes at global conferences. She has led multidisciplinary teams across areas such as radiation protection, environmental health, cannabis science, and tobacco control. She is known for her people-centred leadership and commitment to impactful public health initiatives. Dr. Corrent holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Windsor and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Ottawa
